AGRA. Aimed to recognize the extraordinary contribution of individuals, state governments and institutions in the field of organic agriculture, the third edition of 'Organic India Awards' was held at the Organic Food India Conclave 2022 on Friday. The awards function was jointly organized under the aegis of Tefla's and International Competition Center for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) at Taj Hotel and Convention Centre at Agra.C

hief Guest, Hon'ble Agriculture Minister of Karnataka, Shri. BC Patil congratulated the award winners and said, "Organic farming is the need of the hour. Farmers should make use of technology and change their farming methods for the benefit of their land and themselves. The Central and the Karnataka government is providing necessary facilities to the farmers to help them get maximum value for their produce."

Mr. BC Patlil also invited everyone for Organic and Millets International Trade Fair, which is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru in January 2023.

Mr. Kailash Singh, Managing Director, Teflas and organizer Globoil India said, "Organic agribusiness is growing at a very fast pace across the world. With the increasing demand from consumers globally, the sector is witnessing active participation from various groups. Keeping this in mind, we feel honored to felicitate and acknowledge the individuals and institutions who have made valuable contributions in the area of organic farming, its promotion and business with "Jaivik India Awards".

Mr. Manoj Menon, Executive Director, International Competition Center for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) said, "As an annual event, the first edition of the Organic India Awards was held in Bangalore in 2018 and the second edition in New Delhi in 2019. We could not organize the award function in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thankfully, we were able to organize the event this year In Agra."

Chief guest Shri BC Patil, Hon'ble Agriculture Minister, Karnataka handed over the awards to the winners during the event.

The first prize for organic farming in the North Zone was awarded to Rahul Kumar of Madhya Pradesh and the second prize was given to Ishwar Chandra Gautam of Rajasthan. The award for natural farming in the northern region was awarded to Jasveer Singh from Uttarakhand.

Similarly, in the southern region the first prize for organic farming was awarded to Hanmanth Gurupad Halaki of Karnataka and the second prize to Jose Joseph of Kerala. Natural Farming Award in South Zone was given to Adireddy Palli PKVY (Bandi Obulamma) from Andhra Pradesh.

In the east region the first prize for organic farming was given to Nitish Kumar of Bihar and the second prize to Anjal Limbu of Assam. The award for natural farming in the eastern region was awarded to Seroja Lepcha of West Bengal.

Among the prize winners from western region was Yogita Gajanna Dhurve of Maharashtra who received the first prize, Jigar Praveenbhai Desai of Gujarat got the second prize, while the award for natural farming in the western region was given to Sunita Baliram of Maharashtra.

Along with a letter of appreciation, a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- was also given to the farmers as an incentive.

Among the categories of state governments and institutions for policies which are favorable for the promotion of organic farming, the first prize was awarded to Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board. The second prize in the category was awarded to the Organic Department – Manipur and the third prize was given to an organization called Rythu Sadhakar from Andhra Pradesh.

The Agriculture Department, Government of Karnataka was also honored with a special award for its outstanding role in the organic movement.

The first prize for exporters of organic products was awarded to Suminter India Organics - Maharashtra, second prize was jointly given to Nature Pearls Pvt Ltd - Haryana and Radico Color Me - Uttar Pradesh and the third prize went to Aromatic and Allied Chemicals - Uttar Pradesh.
