A shocking incident happened at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas on Tuesday when four students were hurt in a shooting. Three students were shot, and one was injured, with one student in serious condition, according to local news reports. This news comes from FOX 13 Tampa Bay and other sources.
The shooting took place around 1 p.m. during lunchtime. Sources say it was a fight between students and not an active shooter situation. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg, and three others were also hurt. A senior student told WFAA, a local Dallas news channel, that he was in the school foyer when he heard gunshots. He saw other students running and shouting, so he quickly hid in the band room for safety.
Videos from the school show many police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances at the scene. Students were seen leaving the school in a hurry while the police took control of the area. The Dallas Independent School District said the school is now safe, but they asked everyone to stay away from the campus for now. Parents were told to pick up their children from Eagle Stadium, where the school set up a reunification center.
The names of the injured students have not been shared yet. Police are still investigating to find out why this shooting happened and are looking for the suspect. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at this school. Last year, on 12 April 2024, another student was shot in the leg at Wilmer-Hutchins High School. After that shooting, students protested because the school’s metal detectors were not working properly, and bag checks were not done strictly.
