Carbon Credits Transforming UP's Agricultural Landscape

Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized the pivotal role of carbon finance in elevating farmers' income, with 25,140 farmers already reaping benefits. The prospect of an estimated ₹202 crore inflow to farmers between 2024 and 2026 through carbon credits signals a game-changer in sustainable agriculture.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath spearheaded discussions on Tuesday on the upcoming "Vrikshadharopan Abhiyan-2024," underscoring the state's commitment to environmental conservation. The primary focus of the meeting was the impressive strides made in afforestation, with a remarkable increase of 1,96,118 acres in green cover over the past six years.
In a bid to further accelerate environmental efforts, CM Adityanath announced the mega tree plantation drive in July 2024, aiming to plant a staggering 35 crore trees. This visionary campaign aligns with the goal of planting trees equivalent to Uttar Pradesh's population in a single day.The Chief Minister's holistic approach towards environmental conservation, coupled with the innovative use of carbon credits, positions Uttar Pradesh at the forefront of a green revolution.
