Ayodhya, the city known for its religious significance, is gearing up to welcome Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) with a unique condition – an all-vegetarian menu. In adherence to the city's strict vegetarian-only policy, the American fast-food giant will have to modify its offerings if it desires entry into the sacred city.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, Vishal Singh, a government official in Ayodhya, stated, “KFC has set up its unit at Ayodhya-Lucknow highway because we do not allow non-vegetarian food items here. We are ready to provide even KFC a space if it decides to sell only vegetarian items.”

The city, now a major pilgrimage center following the inauguration of the Ram Temple, has witnessed a shift in dietary preferences. Local businesses and international food chains are adapting to cater to the changing tastes.

Vishal Singh further mentioned, “We have offers from big food chain outlets to set up their shops in Ayodhya. We welcome them with open arms, but there is only one restriction, that they should not serve non-veg food items inside the panch Kosi.”

Businesses like Pizza Hut are navigating the culinary landscape by offering an all-vegetarian menu even beyond the Panch Kosi Parikrama Marg. Awadh Kumar Verma, managing a Pizza Hut outlet near the Ram Temple, expressed his desire to have a shop closer to the temple, anticipating a surge in customers.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Yadav’s Domino’s pizza outlet, strategically located just a kilometer away from the Ram Mandir, is capitalizing on its proximity. Yadav shared, “The construction work is still on. We cannot cater to the customers in large numbers yet. We will do well.”

As Ayodhya experiences this culinary change, businesses will have to adjust to the city's distinct cultural and dietary environment, ensuring they coincide with local taste and culture.
