MHIL Initiates Healthcare Renaissance in UP, Invests ₹2500 Crore in Lucknow

In a major development for the healthcare sector in Lucknow, Max Healthcare Institute Ltd, a leading private healthcare provider in India, has announced plans to invest approximately ₹2500 crore in the city. The investment will go towards establishing world-class medical infrastructure. Additionally, the company has renamed the recently acquired Sahara Hospital as Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow.
This investment plan marks a significant expansion for Max Healthcare, following the acquisition of the Sahara Hospital for an enterprise value of ₹940 crore. Located in the prime Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow, Max Super Speciality Hospital currently operates with 285 beds.
The ₹2500 crore investment will be directed towards establishing a new 500-bed hospital on Shaheed Path, as well as expanding the capacity of Max Super Speciality Hospital. The company also aims to introduce cutting-edge medical technologies such as robotics, radiation therapy in oncology, various transplants, and nursing education.
Max Healthcare plans to invest ₹150-200 crore in upgrading medical infrastructure, adding 265 more beds, and renovating the existing Max Super Speciality Hospital. These enhancements will include establishing a top-tier Max Institute of Cancer Care, bolstering the organ transplantation program, and introducing world-class robotic surgical systems.

This move positions Max Healthcare as the largest private healthcare network in Uttar Pradesh, with over 2000 beds and the capacity to treat 1.5 million people. The company anticipates serving not only patients in Lucknow but also becoming a key referral center for patients from Eastern and Central Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Furthermore, Max Healthcare intends to explore utilizing direct flight connectivity to attract medical value travel patients from nearby countries and the Middle East to Lucknow.
