Patanjali and Russia Sign Historic MoU to Expand Yoga, Ayurveda and Cultural Cooperation
The new agreement aims to deepen wellness partnerships, boost health tourism and strengthen India Russia cultural ties

New Delhi carried a bright, optimistic mood on Friday as Patanjali Yogpeeth and the Government of Russia came together for what both sides hailed as a significant milestone. The MoU was signed in the presence of Swami Ramdev and Sergey Cheremin, head of the Indo Russia Business Council. The ceremony moved with a confident, purposeful rhythm, the kind that usually marks major diplomatic moments, yet there was a clear sense of cultural warmth in the air. It felt as if a long standing friendship was rising to an even stronger and more promising phase.
Speaking at the event, Swami Ramdev ji said the agreement focuses on expanding wellness services, promoting health tourism, strengthening research, and facilitating the exchange of trained professionals. He pointed out that yoga, Ayurveda and naturopathy already enjoy significant interest in Russia. The plan now is to take these traditional practices deeper into society there, while ultimately aiming to bring this knowledge to nearly two hundred countries. The idea sounded ambitious but not out of character for Patanjali’s growing global aspirations.
One of the central goals set under the MoU is broadening Patanjali’s wellness footprint in Russia. Joint research will look into reversing ageing and improving longevity, along with early detection of major illnesses. The partnership also seeks to share India’s spiritual and cultural heritage with Russia. This includes introducing classical traditions, yogic teachings and the broader philosophy that underpins them. The effort felt in line with similar cultural exchanges India has been pursuing in recent years.
Patanjali will also supply trained yoga instructors and skilled workers to Russia. Under the national skill development programme, the organisation has already trained over two lakh people. Many of them may soon find opportunities connected to this collaboration. Another part of the agreement aims to promote Indian brands in Russia and support the entry of Russian brands into the Indian market. Patanjali’s products, which have seen steady growth overseas, are expected to gain stronger visibility among Russian consumers.
While addressing the gathering, Swami Ramdev ji said India and Russia share a long standing emotional connection that predates independence. He described Russian President Vladimir Putin as a strong global leader admired by many in India. He added that despite attempts by some groups to weaken the relationship, the two nations continue to stand together socially, politically, spiritually and economically.
Sergey Cheremin echoed this sentiment. He said Russia plans to deepen its partnership with Patanjali and hopes that yoga, Ayurveda and naturopathy will help citizens adopt healthier lifestyles.
